Fatah secretary in occupied Jerusalem, Shadi Mtour, prevented from attending his father's funeral due to Israeli movement restrictions.

Hawzah News Agency –Israeli restrictions on the movement of Shadi Mtour, a Fatah activist from Jerusalem, have prevented him from attending his father’s funeral, reported WAFA correspondent.

Mtour, secretary of the Jerusalem branch of the Palestinian ruling movement, Fatah, is banned from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem’s Old City, as well as several East Jerusalem neighborhoods and also the West Bank.

Mtour’s father died yesterday and his funeral was held today at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem’s Old City, which he is banned from entering for six months, causing him as a result to miss his father’s funeral, said the WAFA correspondent.

Israel renewed on December 23, and for the third consecutive time, the ban on Mtour entering the West Bank for six months, in addition to restricting his movement inside Jerusalem and barring him from getting in contact with leaders in the movement. To punish him further for his political activity in the occupied city, Israel canceled his wife’s residency status and his family’s health insurance and benefits.
